The pre-school space provides our older children with the opportunity and experiences to further develop their confidence and independence.

This classroom provides a secure environment enabling the children to develop the skills required in preparation for schools such as social skills, independence and self-esteem.

Our children are prepared for school by developing literacy and numeracy skills and we support them to develop their own independence.

Pre-school have one member of staff allocated for every eight children, we have a maximum of 24 children in this age group.

This age group continues to enjoy free-flowing throughout the day to both the outside classroom and large garden. We support the development of the children’s decision making, allowing them to spend their time indoors or outdoors, wherever sparks their interest. This allows us to embrace child-led learning.

The Pre-school children also participate in Forest School every two weeks. Our qualified forest school teacher carefully plans these sessions to embrace the outdoors and each sessions ends with campfire treats around the fire pit. These sessions are at a small additional charge to the parents and are not compulsory.

When children leave Little Acorns our goal is for them to have the confidence, independence and self-esteem they need to begin the next stage of their journey.
